  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

6 Dr. Seuss books won’t be published for racist images
By MARK PRATT March 2, 2021

BOSTON (AP) — Six Dr. Seuss books — including “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” and “If I Ran the Zoo” — will stop being published because of racist and insensitive imagery, the business that preserves and protects the author’s legacy said Tuesday.

“These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” Dr. Seuss Enterprises told The Associated Press in a statement that coincided with the late author and illustrator’s birthday.

“Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” it said.

    ---------

Do you approve of this action by Dr. Seuss Enterprises? Keep in mind, this is not a violation of the First Amendment, because the government is not prohibiting the printing and sale of these books. Should public libraries and school libraries remove these books from their collections?

It can be argued that Schools are in fact an extension of the Government, funded, guide lined by the government.

As for the rest of it...these culture cancel pussies are taking this nonsense too damn far now.

Books by Dr. Seuss — who was born Theodor Seuss Geisel in Springfield, Massachusetts, on March 2, 1904 — have been translated into dozens of languages as well as in braille and are sold in more than 100 countries. He died in 1991.

He remains popular, earning an estimated $33 million before taxes in 2020, up from just $9.5 million five years ago, the company said. Forbes listed him No. 2 on its highest-paid dead celebrities of 2020, behind only the late pop star Michael Jackson.

The man started writing these childrens books because there were serious illiteracy issues during that era because books were claimed to be boring, so comes along a man that made reading more fun for children.

I for one would love to see where the ''racially insensitive'' materials comes into play here...did he make pictures of little black kids being hanged in the public square or something, or is this due to the standard leftist based jealousy factor?

I thought his books were mostly for kids. I don't know many grownups that read them.
Maybe the grownups who are complaining about them should grow up.

I remember the Sambo's restaurants. At one, we walked in then sat down at a booth that had some dirty dishes that needed to be cleared off, but the waitress came over with the coffee pot and wanted to fill up the coffee cup!!! We told her that we had just walked in and was waiting for someone to clear the table and wipe it off!! She was kinda ditzy...

I don't remember the specific images in the books, but if we have been reading them all these years and haven't heard complaints about them then I suspect it's nothing all that offensive.

Hell I remember Song of The South which was Uncle Remese's moral stories & it was banned because it had black U R with 2 white kids singing & dancing between stories about Briar Rabbit, Fox & Bear.

The banned books are quickly becoming collectors' items, worth many hundreds of dollars each.

Would it be a violation of copyright law for someone to photograph each of the pages in the books, and post them on the internet?

I have an honest to goodness question about banning things that are deemed offensive. I hesitate to ask it, but here it goes.

There is a movie that was made back in the 90's (I think) called Rosewood. If you have never heard of the town of Rosewood, that's because it doesn't exist any more. In the 1920's (I think) a horrific thing happened there. A group of white people attacked the mostly black community and several residents were killed. The official number is 6, but some people believe it could have actually been a lot more. So "Rosewood" is a movie about the town of Rosewood and the terrible events that occured there. But it's "based" on a true story, so some of it is fictional, which means it's not an educational documentary. So, my question is, if there is an entire two hour movie that was made in the 1990's about racism and violence, should it be banned?

My second example is the movie "Crash". Unlike Rosewood, this one is a completely fictional movie that is not based on any factual, historic events. Every character in the movie displays racism, hatred, and stereotypes and most characters display all three. And they do it in an over the top, in your face kind of way. But not until the end of the movie does the viewer find out the point of all of the hatred, racism and stereotypes. The point of the movie is that at the end of the day, we are all just humans and we are all linked together, wether we know it or not. Should this be banned?

I'm interested in hearing all of your thoughts on this. And with any luck there can be some civil discussion. Fingers crossed.

    1. Chief Hu
I do not agree with banning things. If they are that bad no one will want to see them anyway. If there is something I do not like I will avoid it. It isn't that hard. I do not agree with another person deciding for me what I should see or read. I am a grown person and capable of making a decision.

Wow. You've encapsulated why they made this decision... Even though Dr Seuss did write it that way, your racist brain insists on saying "Jew fish"...

I have always liked Chinese. On the internet I saw some of Dr. Seuss' cartoons of Chinese. They were stereotypical, but I did not find them demeaning in any way. A Chinese person might disagree with me, but I doubt many would.

I am interested in seeing what cartoons by a non American would look like if they portrayed negative stereotypes of Americans. My guess is that I would find them amusing. I might even agree with them.

I think we are becoming too sensitive about this kind of thing. I watched "Gone With the Wind" during the early years of the War in Vietnam. I did not notice a negative portrayal of blacks. I did notice a negative portrayal of war. I was used to war movies made during and in the aftermath of the Second World War. These, including "The Longest Day" and "The Green Berets," presented war as an exciting adventure any young man would enjoy participating in. They portrayed bloodless wounds and painless deaths.
